March is over and that wraps up my first full month of listing on Amazon. Overall, I’d say it was a successful month. But there’s nothing to celebrate yet. I still have a long way to go building this business.
Here’s stats for the month of March 2024.
Items tracked in Keepa: 1323 (+165)
New Inventory Acquired: 26
Inventory sent to FBA: 30
Total Amazon Inventory: 27
Sending Inventory to Amazon
Right now I’m only sending in books to Amazon that have a best seller rank better than 500,000.
Every time I buy a book I check the Keepa demand graph and record when to send the book in. Starting in May, I will start sending in my reserve inventory.
Keepa Tracking
I have been trying to be stricter with my Keepa tracking. In a perfect world, I don’t even want to think when a notification comes through. Just click buy.
But that is not how it works. If there’s a huge run up in supply then I’m taking that as a good indicator to not buy. When the supply runs up and the price drops hard, I update my keepa tracker to notify me when the price goes above $45. I only picked 45 after reading Jarry say to use that.
Keeping Momentum Going
This past month, I focused on some higher priced books that have a historical tendency to run up during the busy season.
I did take a gamble on a few of these, so we’ll see if they pay off. But I am hoping to identify a few types of book that follow this cycle during the off and busy seasons. Maybe wishful thinking.
I also reached out to a few publishers about buying books in wholesale, but I haven’t heard anything back yet.
